Four sculptures, four wines: looking back on our summer evenings.

Last Wednesday saw the second of our two Visit and tasting evenings, after the one on 29 July. It was the first time the museum had brought art and wine together, and we were not entirely sure what to expect.

The idea held in four stages: a monumental sculpture, an episode from the life of Louis Derbré, a wine, a dish. The group moved through the park in the golden hour, stopped, looked, tasted, moved on. Barbara Daly, of the association Au Hasard des Oiseaux, led the discovery of the works; Myriam Fouasse-Robert, of Rendez-Vous dans les Vignes, led the tasting and explained the pairings.

What we had not anticipated was how long people took. Glass in hand, in front of a bronze, nobody moves on to the next sculpture after three minutes. The conversations ran on, and the evening ended well after nightfall, the works lit, everyone free to wander.

Thank you to Barbara and to Myriam for their enthusiasm, and to those who came. One thing is certain: there will be another edition.
